According to the Daily Monopoly website, today, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is travelling to Jena to participate in a march and benefit concert in support of six black teenagers who faced felony charges after they allegedly beat a white classmate last school year.

If anyone sees the mayor in Jena, please tell him that lots of black folks are being murdered in New Orleans. Tell Nagin to please bring all those leaders back to help stop the mayhem in New Orleans.

New Orleans Murder Update Tuesday, Sep 18 2007

barneyfife.jpg

New Orleans has now recorded at least its 151st murder of the year.

The latest murder occurred Monday morning. It was the fourth murder in three days.

In what is being viewed by insiders as a desperate move to stem the out-of-control crime wave NOPD Superintendent Warren Riley has ordered that the air be changed in the tires of all the patrol cars. Police spokesmen refuse to say why Riley has made this move saying that such disclosure would only serve to alert the bad guys.

Meanwhile, the City Council continues its own efforts at stopping crime by more secret discussions regarding air-conditioning repairs at the police stations. No word from the council spokesman about progress in their crime fighting efforts because the council has yet to hire a spokesman.

Mayor Ray Nagin is said to be in meetings with his staff to discuss how to commemorate the city’s 151st murder. Text messages emanating from the meetings indicate that Nagin is looking at a $2 Million “Unknown Perpetrator” monument. The monument will be designed and constructed by an out-of-state firm.

Recovery Czar Dr. Ed Blakely has called for an emergency bicycle tour of the city to determine an appropriate location for the monument. Blakely is said to be considering a site near the Super Dome in order to maximize national television exposure to “keep the brand out there.”

Columnist is over the top Monday, Sep 17 2007

Terrorism is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary as violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands.

Sunday, in a column in the Baton Rouge Advocate, Mark Ballard refers to Internet bloggers and radio talk show hosts as “terrorists.”

Does Mr. Ballard not realize that the Freedom of Speech in the First Amendment is not the exclusive right of the paid media?

Ironically, Mr. Ballard’s own newspaper, in an editorial on September 5 called out Bobby Jindal for refusing to participate in debates.

Apparently, someone not in the commercial media expressing one’s opinion makes one a terrorist. If Mr. Ballard had been alive at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, I suspect that he would have call the signers “terrorists.”
