Jindal then and now (corrected version) Thursday, Apr 24 2008
Note: Savings figures corrected.
While on the campaign trail to be governor, candidate Bobby Jindal talked about out-of-control spending, bloated state government, surpluses and the lack of tax cuts. See him and hear his words here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EgrnRnTfgk
That was then.
This is now:
“The Senate’s tax committee on Monday approved a big income-tax break, despite objections from Gov. Bobby Jindal’s administration….” Associated Press, April 21, 2008.
Senate Bill 87, by Senator Buddy Shaw, R-Shreveport, would reduce your State Personal Income, but Governor Jindal opposes the tax reduction for the hard-working citizens of Louisiana. The maximum tax break for an individual would be $500 per year. A couple making a combined $50,000 or more, would get a $1,000 tax break.
A savings of $500 won’t make us wealthy. However, it will help us pay the higher costs of utilities, gasoline, healthcare, insurance, groceries which our governor and leges are not addressing.
