Paid ads touting Bobby Jindal are airing on the radio stations across the state.
Tuesday morning statewide radio talk show host Moon Griffon announced that he had pulled the ad from his show. Griffon said that he had not heard the ad until after it began running and he started getting complaints from his listeners.
On Monday morning, the ad ran three times on Griffon’s show. After hearing the ad, in an unprecedented move, Griffon pulled the ad. He called the ad agency and returned their money. Griffon did not even take any money for the 3 times the ad ran on his show on Monday.
Griffon said that the ad contained an “out-right lie” and that he would not allow it on his show.
The ad claims that Jindal repealed the “Stelly Tax” this legislative session. Griffon, who was a prime mover of the passage of Senate Bill 87 by Sen. Buddy Shaw, R-Shreveport, said that Jindal opposed the tax reduction from the get-go.
Griffon said that Jindal only agreed to sign the tax reduction after it was amended to delay the effective date until January 1, 2009.
Additionally, Griffon said that after Jindal issued a press released stating that the taxpayers would start seeing an increase in their paychecks beginning in January, 2009. However, Jindal had his lege floor leaders push through an amendment to prevent the Secretary of Revenue from amending and promulgating new tax withholding tables until after July 1, 2009. Therefore, workers will not see any increase in their paychecks until, at least, the summer of 2009.
Griffon said that he has no problem running ads supporting Jindal, but that he will not allow lies to be spread by Jindal or anyone else on his show.
Bravo Moon!!
