Covering for Ass

According to a report on WWL Radio, Representative John LaBruzzo is asking Bobby J to veto the lege pay raise.

LaBruzzo said: “When you make a mistake people appreciate someone who can stand up and say, ‘Look I misjudged. I made a mistake and I’m going to try to do what I can to make it right.’ ”

LaBruzzo didn’t make a mistake. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Weeks ago, I debated the pay raise issue with LaBruzzo on Garland Robinette’s Show on WWL Radio. Subsequently, LaBruzzo was on the radio numerous times whining about how hard he worked and he couldn’t make it on his lege salary plus his “day job.”

Suddenly he doesn’t need the money?

What LaBruzzo really means is that his constituents are not nearly as dumb as he thought. That’s what he “misjudged.”

Don’t be fooled again. LaBruzzo is just trying to get his constituents off his butt.

LaBruzzo still believes we aren’t smart enough to see through his charade. It’s insulting!

Do the Recalls Right! Wednesday, Jun 25 2008

It’s exciting to see the public outraged over the obscene lege pay raises. It’s even more exciting to see that ordinary citizens are deciding to do something about it. Many want to recall their leges and Bobby Jindal. Here are some ideas.

Why recalls fail

The reason most recall elections fail in LA is not so much the requirement of the signatures of 1/3 of the registered voters in the district of the person to be recalled. The issue that trips them up is the 6-month period in which the signatures must be gathered.

If one starts the clock ticking on a formal recall and it fails to gather the requisite signatures in the 6 month period then another recall cannot be started for 18 months.

Run it just like an election campaign

Simply run the recalls just like elections. Identify those willing to sign the recall petition before starting the formal procedure of actually circulating a petition to get the names signed. Once the requisite number of voters have been identified, then have volunteers to go on weekends to the homes of those who have already agreed to sign and sign them up.

Use the voter i.d. period to recruit volunteers to gather the signatures after the clock begins to tick. Volunteers do not have to live in the district to help.

It’s a no lose situation. If you don’t i.d. enough voters, you don’t force someone else to wait 18 months to start another effort.

Just do it

Do before the leges pass more laws to make it even more difficult to get rid of them.

Lege Perks Increase — Again!! Tuesday, Jun 24 2008

Beginning on July 1, the mileage payment for leges will auto-magically increase from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cent per mile.

Think about that when you fill up your car.

The self-serving, greedy, leges just keep stuffing OUR money in THEIR pockets in total defiance of the will of the people.
