LA company moving jobs to Kentucky Wednesday, Jun 24 2009

According to a story in the Cincinnati Enquirer, New Orleans-based Sazerac Company is considering locating some administrative offices in Louisville,[Kentucky] which would bring about 50 jobs.

Of course, our ethically-challenged, state economic development guru, Stephen Moret will have all types of excuses for not being on top of this.  Regardless, we are looking at another Louisiana-born company with one foot out of the door.

Our policy

Louisiana’s economic policy can be summed up this way:  1) If you are not doing business here, we will pay you to come to Louisiana.   2) If you are an existing Louisiana business, we will only pay you if you threaten to leave. 3) If you are an existing business and want to stay in our state, be prepared to pay more.

The only economic strategy that will work to help all businesses in LA and to attract more businesses will be to eliminate business taxes, fees, red tape and all other forms of government interference in business except those things imposed in every state via Federal law.

Because such a strategy would remove government from the economic development equation and thus shrink government it will never happen in LA.

Government can’t fail

Government in LA is now too big to fail. You’re seeing that fact in evidence right now in Baton Rouge.

The leges will not reduce the size of government; they are raising taxes and the “good government” groups and the media are supporting the leges’ efforts.

LA loses another plant! Tuesday, Jun 23 2009

fat-belly

Once again, when a company decides to merge its multi-state manufacturing operations for financial reasons, Louisiana is the loser.  The latest consolidation will cost 28 souls in Louisiana their livelihood.

Meanwhile, all we hear at the Capitol is how tough it is that state government is being forced to tighten its belt across its obese belly.

The only answer to the belt-tightening, according to the politicians and bureaucrats, is for us taxpayers to sacrifice by giving up our promised tax breaks and pay to keep state government obese.

All we hear from our ethically-challenged, economic development guru, Stephen Moret, is that we must save state money sitting in slush funds to bribe companies which aren’t in LA to come here.   He thinks we need to raise taxes on the public; especially ones that he doesn’t have to pay.

When are we going to hear some concern by the politicians about the hard-working people and businesses in the private sector in LA?
