Harrison defends cutting IG funding Friday, May 11 2012

IG eliminator

Obviously, Rep. Joe Harrison still hasn’t gotten the message from the public. He continues to support stripping the funding for the State Inspector General. See Harrison’s response to our efforts to restore the funding here.

Thanks to “Watchcat” (a complimentary term) Jeremy Alford for posting the response by Harrison.

Apparently Harrison is hard of understanding. He is a representative of the citizens of Louisiana; thus we are his boss. Time for us to tell our employee what he is to do.

Email Harrison here: harrisoj@legis.la.gov

Also, contact your leges and tell them Harrison doesn’t speak for you.

My budget plan Thursday, May 10 2012

john-kennedy

A can do man!

The House is at an impasse over the state budget. “Huey P” Jindal wants it his way or nothing. At least 36 brave souls are standing up to “Huey P”. That is historic.

Everyone is asking for a plan, but Team Jindal doesn’t like the plan of the 36 fiscal hawks.

Here’s my idea:

Return HB 1 to the House Appropriations Committee.

Ask State Treasurer John Kennedy to come sit with the committee to come up with $300 Million in non-essential funding to cut from HB 1.

Then return HB 1 to the House Floor and a 2/3’s vote is not needed to debate it.

It would save a lot of time. Right now, the leges will probably waste a couple of more days because the Jindal Administration insists on doing things their way.

I assure that $300 Million can be cut without affecting a single STATE program.

The integrity (or what’s left of it) of the House of Representatives and the Separations of Powers is at stake.

It’s time to stop playing “Huey P’s” childish my-way-or-the-highway game.

It’s also time to stop violating the constitutional prohibition on the use of one-time dollars for recurring expenses.

That’s my plan.

Jindal staffer in violation of the law Thursday, May 10 2012

stafford-palmieri

Is she above the law?

It was recently reported by the Baton Rouge newspaper that Stafford Palmieri, policy director for Bobby Jindal drives a vehicle with a New York license plate.

Team Jindal flack, Kyle Plotkin, said “car belongs to Palmieri’s father and that she is borrowing it.” Advocate, April 22, 2012.

Louisiana law requires new residents of this state to register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency. No exception to the law was found for Team Jindal or for driving daddy’s car.

The purpose of the law is simple. If you live in LA and drive a vehicle you have to help pay for our roads.

Common sense says that Palmieri isn’t commuting daily from New York; she is residing in LA.

There are a lot of State Troopers at the Capitol. Surely one of them will notice the vehicle and ticket it.

Even better, Palmieri should use some of the money we taxpayers are paying her and register the vehicle.
